ImmunoSearch was founded in 2007 with the aim of developing alternative in-vitro toxicology tests in response to regulatory constraints prohibiting animal testing, with a particular focus on the cosmetics industry.

Three toxicology tests are required to market chemicals: eye irritation, skin irritation, and skin allergy tests. In 2010, ImmunoSearch was granted worldwide patents for these three tests (Eye IRR-IS, IRR-IS, and SENS-IS), using a combination of 3D in-vitro reconstructed human tissues (skin, eye, lung, etc.) with a toxicogenomic approach. The demonstration of specific genomic signatures of toxicity on these human tissue models makes it possible to measure the toxicity of products and ingredients with high accuracy. This method represents a major technological advance, completely replacing animal testing in toxicological science.
